Overview of the workflow

1

Install the Plugin

  • Download the Woodsoft Nesting Plugin from: Woodsoft Nesting Plugin Download Linkarrow-up-right

  • Install the .rbz plugin in SketchUp like any other plugin:

    1. Open SketchUp > go to Window > Extension Manager > Install Extension

    2. Choose the downloaded .rbz file and confirm the installation

  • Install ABF Plugin: Follow similar steps

  • Restart: Restart SketchUp to activate the features

2

Register a Woodsoft Account

3

Activate Woodsoft Nesting Module

  • Contact Woodsoft Admin to open usage rights for the Nesting module for your account.

  • After activation, you will see the Nesting interface in SketchUp.

4

Log in to the Plugin in SketchUp

  • Open SketchUp, go to Woodsoft Nesting > Log in

  • Use your registered Woodsoft account to log in and access the system.

5

Layer Naming Standards (ABF)

Naming Layers correctly according to standards is a vital factor for the system to automatically recognize and process machining. Core parameters include: Z (Depth), D (Bit Diameter), and C (Center Coordinate).

Machining Type
Layer Structure

Face Drilling

ABF-Z(depth)-D(diameter)

ABF-Z11-D8 (Drill 11mm deep, Diameter 8mm)

Horizontal Drilling

Need to add C and Z

ABF-DSIDE-Z8 (C: 5.5)

Groove

Name_Layer-Z(depth)

ABF_GROOVE-Z7 (Tool follows drawn center line)

Pocket

POCKET-Name_Layer-Z(depth)

POCKET_PROFILE-Z5 (Run inside drawn shape)

Profile On

ABF_Profile_On-Z(depth)

Used for curved parts

6

Label Parts with ABF Plugin

  • Use the ABF plugin to apply part labels before nesting.

7

Select Parts for Nesting

  • In SketchUp, use the selection tool to select all panel parts to be nested.

  • Do not select accessories or unnecessary 3D objects.

8

Execute Nesting & Data Control

Before pressing the Nesting button, ensure input data is clean

Check and Fix Errors:

  • Part Attributes: Check material, quantity, and assign information (e.g., room name) for the label

  • Fix Layer Errors: Use the "Sửa định dạng layer" (Fix layer format) tab to scan for non-standard layers. You can directly edit depth Z or change machining type right here.

Nesting Configuration:

  • Post Processor: Select the CNC machine configuration corresponding to the Web setup.

  • Board Size: Enter standard dimensions, e.g., 1220x2440 mm.

  • Algorithm: Choose algorithm based on optimization needs.

  • Coordinate System: Set CNC coordinate system (X+Y+, X+Y-,...).

  • Nesting: After setting parameters, click "Nesting"

9

Export Production Data

Result files include:

CNC File: Formats .MPR, .DXF, .XXL depending on the machining machine.

Label: Contains QR code, edge banding info, machining info....

Excel Report: Detailed statistics on board quantity, materials, and optimization efficiency.

Layout Diagram DXF: Used for storage or manual editing if needed.

Run Nesting and Preview Results:

Configuration and Export MPR:

For 5 or 6-face machining lines supporting MPR format, configuring the MPR file is crucial for optimizing machining order and ensuring accuracy.

Extended Export Formats:

  • Export DXF for Woodsoft Nesting: Export DXF to utilize offcuts (DC board) on the web platform.

  • Export DXF for BAZIS CNC: Support for machine systems not using MPR.

  • Export Excel BAZIS Cut: Export Excel file for automatic sliding table saws.
