Common Errors

1. Essential processing types to avoid errors

Edge cutting

To avoid conversion errors, there must always be 3 types of processing:

  • Board border

  • Detail cutting

  • Edge cutting

2. Do not allow inside cutting paths to extend beyond the detail boundaries.

The inner cutting path (red line) is extending beyond the part boundary (yellow line).

⇒ The software will interpret the red path as a single part and therefore will apply the cutting tool on the outside of it.

3. When machining both sides

When performing double-sided machining, you must assign a layer with the machining type “Back Side Outline” ⇒ This allows the software to recognize it and generate a two-sided file.

4. Configure groove routing for curved groove cuts.

circle-info

For layers that contain a single line, assign the machining type as "Profile-on groove." That line represents the center path of the groove-cutting tool.

circle-info

For curved groove routing with a layer protecting the bending groove, we assign the machining type as "profile-on" (run first). This groove path will be processed first.

5. Notes when setting up the drilling process

* The drilling process setup includes 3 types:

- Drilling holes: using a tool that pushes down then lifts up

  • Drilling multiple circles: using a router that spins to cover the hole diameter

  • Drilling multiple circles with a hole in the middle: used for hinge holes, the tool spins but leaves a small nub to avoid edge breakage when attaching edge banding

  • Do not assign the drilling hole layer to the “cut inside” processing type.
